girl engines is on hold while i try to figure out why the hell my characters aren’t behaving.
instead, it’s time to put dead people in bottles and play with necromancers
ourcrimescene asked: i'm sorry if this is a repetitive question and if you've answered this before, but how long does lyme disease usually take to treat? my knowledge on it is limited beyond it being transferred by ticks :/ regardless, hopefully it works its way out of your system soon :)
Lyme both is and isn’t easy to deal with. CDC says three weeks of doxycycline will take care of it. Except that if you don’t catch it, it builds up biofilms and entrenches itself and does all sorts of other nasty things. It’s a spirochete, like syphilis (har har), relapsing fever, and leptospirosis, and it’s really hard to treat once it bores its way into you.
Given that I’ve had it for at least 8 years, it’s had 8 years to build up protective biofilms. The more of the biofilm you break down, the more of the bacteria you release, which makes you sicker. Your body usually can’t keep up with the dead bacteria, either, so you get sicker because of that, too.
The moral of the story is this: If you go into a wooded area where deer live, just go to the doctor and ask for doxycycline. Don’t get Lyme or it will eat your brain.
Anonymous asked: are you getting better though? it's lyme disease you're treating, right?
I both am and am not :\ Some of my symptoms are gone, some are just minimized, and some are spitefully tap-dancing on the corpse of my good health. It’s a process.
i just redeemed a bunch of gift cards on amazon, and now my biggest quandary is whether to get a bunch of little things or one big thing.
